The Story of VoltaRocks

It started with a simple frustration: "This is not how it works."

‍Year after year in the energy industry, watching things done "just because." No one challenging the status quo. Everyone so corporate, so afraid to innovate. We looked at disruptors like Amber Electric, then at our own experience, and realised...

Things weren't moving not because there wasn't a need, but because everyone was chasing quick, nasty little improvements instead of getting to the root of it all.

The root problem? Retailers and partners had a massive gap in technology and digitalisation. From working on projects with AEMO, McKinsey & Co, Commonwealth Bank, and more, we discovered the dirty secret: everyone was still using spreadsheets.

The world was moving to AI, and energy was stuck with CSV files and manual updates. It felt like buying a car in the 80s, not shopping in 2025.

The AHA! Moment

We were trying to get product info into our app. CDR plan data wasn't enough for compliance. Every solar seller had different pricing. Ad hoc product info everywhere. Then it hit us: No one has the source of truth. Not even for their own products.

The data was left to partners and installers, allowing mistakes, lack of transparency, and people getting into huge investments with systems not set up correctly. Or worse - sold the wrong one entirely.

There had to be a better way.

So we built it: The Shopify for Electrification

For us, 42 is the answer to energy retail's biggest question:

"How do we manage thousands of products across hundreds of partners without losing our minds?"
